For example, picture two physical and identical clothes shops both with the same size floorspace, both selling the same gear. Because of where people park, 50% of visitors go into shop A and 50% of visitors go into shop B. The only difference between the two shops is that shop A regularly tests different shop layouts whereas shop B always stays the same.

Shop A is able to work out that by forcing people to go through aisle 1 they are 25% more likely to add a new t-shirt to their cart than they do in shop B. Likewise by then encouraging shoppers to go through aisle 3 next, shoppers are 16% more likely to add a pair of jeans to their cart. By also stacking loads of great deals by the till, shop A is also able to increase the number of people who complete a purchase rather than abandoning their cart in the middle of the shop and walking out.

Whilst it’s kind of impractical to always do this kind of testing in the real world (although big retailers like Tesco and Sainsbury’s have been doing it for years), in the online world we can run these tests every month in order to incrementally increase your conversion rate and sales.

 
   

Increase Your Leads Through Inquiry Form Optimisation

For service related businesses, the aim of the game is to increase your inbound inquiries from your website. As such, one of the best strategies to employ is to split test your inquiry form placement, calls to action and page layouts.

Simple changes such as testing the size and wording of the call to action button can be highly effective. Likewise, choosing a contrasting, attention-grabbing button colour can also produce significant results.
